Blaby Cemetery

The Chapel on No.3 Cemetery (No longer in use)

The Cemetery is situated at Mill Lane, Blaby.

Mill Lane Cemetery was opened in 1863.

The Parish Council purchased land adjacent to the existing Cemetery in 1997. Plans are under way to develop this site as an extension to the Cemetery.

Cemetery matters are the responsibility of the Estates Committee, which meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at 13 Western Drive, Blaby.

CEMETERY RULES & REGULATIONS

No. 4 Cemetery

1) Cut flowers may be placed in a suitable container e.g. iron or stone vase, not exceeding 1ft x 1ft x 1ft in size, on the grave. Bottles, jars and jugs or other unsightly ornaments are only permitted on a temporary basis.

2) The planting of trees and shrubs (including roses) is not permitted.

3) The Council reserves the right to remove unauthorised items and to maintain graves to a reasonable standard.

4) The Council is not responsible for any damage to monuments or gravestones. The Council reserves the right to lower headstone plinths to ground level when, in the Council's opinion, such headstone is unsightly due to incorrect placements.

5) No small stones, gravel, stone chippings or pebbles may be used on cremation plots or graves.

6) Aluminium markers on cremation plots must not be removed, buried, obscured or moved from the centre front of the plot under any circumstances.

7) The Council will make up ground, if sinking occurs, with good top soil.

8) Deedholders must be aware that some disruption may occur to the surface of a grave if an adjacent grave is opened. This may be unavoidable. Disruption will be kept to a minimum and the grave will be tidied afterwards, as much as possible.

9) "Garden" graves may not exceed a maximum width of 2ft. 6in.
