Burial Fees / Charges

N.B. For Non-Parishioners, all fees will be quintupled (multiplied X 5). The Clerk has discretion to waive treble fees for non-parishioners in the case of parishioners of long standing who have been obliged to reside outside the parish during their declining years in order to receive nursing or other residential care.

PURCHASE OF EXCLUSIVE RIGHT OF BURIAL

Single (For 2): 8ft. x 4ft:- £200.00
Cremation Plot (For 2): 2ft. x 2ft. 6in:- £50.00

In the case of double-deep graves, only the charge for one plot is made, but interment charge, as in B) below, is made for each interment.

Graves may be bought in advance. Pre-bought single graves may not be used for the interment of coffins (caskets) larger than 6'6" x 2'4".

NOTE: To pre-book the burial rights to both interment and cremation plots, the cost will be doubled.

INTERMENT (Regardless of age)

Interment of coffin (exclusive plots): £50.00
Interment of ashes (cremation plots): £50.00
Scattering of ashes (on exclusive
plots or cremation plots): £50.00
Digging cremation plot: £50.00

These charges will apply each time the grave is opened, whether for primary or secondary inhumation.
Interments of coffins (caskets) larger than 6'6" x 2'4" (except in exceptional circumstances when the deceased was a big person), two single plots, side by side, must be purchased, at the appropriate fee. The coffin (casket) may be buried double deep, leaving room for additional interment(s), but must be interred centrally.

MONUMENT/MEMORIALS

For the right to erect and place on a grave or cremation plot for which exclusive right of burial has been granted:
(i) On a grave, 8ft. x 4ft.
Headstone (not footstone) - not larger than 3ft.6in. in height and a maximum width of 2ft.6in:- £50.00
(ii) On 2 x single plots purchased for the interment of coffins (caskets) larger than 6'6" x 2'4", memorials must be placed either to the left or right, in alignment with memorials on other rows. They may not be placed centrally.

(iii) On a cremation plot.
Maximum height from ground, including base, 12"
Maximum width, including base, 15"
Maximum length, including base, 15":- £50.00

(iv) All Memorials.
a) Maximum depth (front to back) of the base: 15"
b) Maximum thickness (front to back) of the inscribed slab, whether upright or sloping: 5"
c) Overall thickness (front to back) of the memorial, including vases, supports, inscribed slab, etc. must not exceed depth of base: 15"

Replacement Memorials ... 50% of the current fees.
Additional inscriptions: £50.00
Moveable vase: Nil

No kerbs or fixtures are allowed.
Plans and inscriptions for memorials must be submitted to the Clerk to the Council for approval.

UPKEEP OF GRAVES

Per grave, per year: £10.00 + VAT.
(N.B. On existing contracts only. No new agreements will be made after 3rd December 2002.)

OTHER FEES

Fees for other services, such as:
a) transfer/renewal of exclusive right of burial,
b) searches in registers/copies of entries in registers: £50.00 per hour
(plus any expenses incurred by Council)

THESE FEES APPLY when the person to be interred, or in respect of whom the right is granted, is, or immediately before his/her death was an inhabitant or parishioner of Blaby or, in the case of a still-born child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of interment were such inhabitants or parishioners.
